*****The Beef Superintendents are trying to make check in go as smooth as possible.
They are goint to split up check in times in alphabetical order by exhibitor.
Registered heifers: 8:00-8:45am exhibitors with the last name A-H
8:45-9:30am exhibitors with the last name I-R
9:30-10:00am exhibitors with the last name S-Z
Commercial Heifers: 10:00-10:30am exhibitors with the last name A-H
10:30-11:00am exhibitors with the last name I-R
11:00-11:30am exhibitors with the last name S-Z
Steers: 11:30am-12:00pm exhibitors with the last name A-H
12:00-12:30pm exhibitors with the last name I-R
12:30-1:00pm exhibitors with the last name S-Z
To be eligible to show:
Youth may enroll in 4-H on September 1 if they are 8 and in the 3rd grade.
Items to Remember:
*Household Nominations: Students will be allowed to enter and show any animal nominated by an individual from their household according to the following restrictions:
The students must all legally reside in the same household and share the same legal address.
The student who is entering the animal must have materially participated in the care of the project.
*No weight limit on sheep.
* Removed tooth rule in steer rules.
*Rule addition for AOB Heifers:
*Rule #1 in General Rules under Heifer states: To constitute a breed; five heifers must in check in and show. Any breed having less than five heifers show will be placed in “All other breeds”. All other breeds will show as any other breed.
**Addition: If there are less than 5 heifers in the AOB at time of check in, they will be given the opportunity to meet requirements for the Commercial Heifer Show by 8:00 am the day of the cattle show.
Requirements for the Commercial Heifer Show:
Commercial heifers will be show according to weight. Commercial heifers will be mouthed before official weighing. The two center permanent incisors are above the cutting edge of the adjacent temporary incisors the heifer must be verified pregnant by licensed veterinarian or have calf at side. Final decisions left to the official veterinarian.
*Incomplete Nomination Policy: Nominations that are submitted but incomplete (i.e. missing signatures, missing tag numbers, missing ear notches, etc.) will be entered into the database as incomplete and a letter will be returned to the nominating family explain why the nomination is incomplete. A one-time $20 incomplete fee will be charged and is required in order for a nomination to be complete, in addition to the missing returned information. Deadline is the 3rd Friday in January.
*Rule change: Exhibitors may nominate and enter as many animals of each specie as they wish; however, they may only show the same number that is stated in the catalog.
Swine exhibitors must mark on nomination envelope if they are showing out of trailer. Those exhibitors indicating they will show out of trailer will not be assigned a hog pen.
Any swine exhibitor showing out of trailers requires a free permit sticker to be posted on the rear gate of each trailer. Each sticker registered will require ear tag number of swine and exhibitor name in that trailer, whether individual or school trailer. Sticker registration at check in table.
There will be designated area for exhibitors showing out of trailers. Any exhibitors show swine caught leaving or returning to grounds after check in will be disqualified.
All animals have to be on the grounds by check in and must remain on the grounds until shown.
Show management will check all Grands and Reserve Grands for DNA immediately following specie selection by a superintendent or assistant superintendent and one MRJLS board member.
All animals are subject to DNA collection at direction of show management.
To avoid $50 cleanup fee, exhibitors must work on Saturday morning or Monday afternoon.
Electricity may be limited in Beef Barn. Generators are encouraged.
When selecting for sale order; you cannot pull animals until dismissed by superintendent.
